How Hypnotherapy works online

As much as 2020 has been tough for everyone, this year has actually brought some unexpectedly positive moments for me. It gave me the opportunity (and the push) to start to offer online sessions via zoom. This is something I am really pleased with because it means I can offer therapy to more people, including people who live further away.

I have since realised that some people still prefer to see me face to face, and as much as this is possible, there is more flexibility if sessions are scheduled online.

With this in mind, I thought I could explain a few things about online therapy so it’s easier to understand how it works.

  1. What you need to start with

Many people find working online very comfortable simply because you can stay within the comfort of your home. You don’t have travel anywhere, and there is no need to worry about parking up. You do, however, need the following:

  • Uninterrupted time.

The session will involve some hypnosis and also give you time to discuss what you need help with. That’s why it is best to ask other members of your household to not come into the room you are going to be in. Any pets will also have to be kept out of the room.

  • Comfortable area to relax in.

You will need to be able to feel at ease while we talk. You will also require either a chair or a sofa/ bed which will support your head and neck comfortably during the hypnosis session.

  1. How therapy works online

Once we have scheduled your first appointment, I will send some documents to you. This will include a short from for you to complete and send back electronically, as well as the Therapeutic Agreement and Data Protection info. You will also receive a confirmation email and details of how to send the payment electronically.

 

A few minutes prior the appointment I will email you the link to the online meeting that I will initialise. I will also text you or email you to make sure that you know you should now have the link to connect to.

 

During the appointment we discuss whatever you have decided you would like to have a chat about, and the second part of the session will most often include the Hypnosis relaxation.

  1. Imagine the setting

Every single client I have seen online has been pleasantly surprised about how easy and comfortable it was.

You can just imagine sitting on your comfy chair or sofa, comfortably warm and cosy, indulging in letting go of negative thoughts and inviting positive vibes into your life. You might find that when you come out of hypnosis you will have a big smile on your face, feeling relaxed, more at ease and feeling good about what you have achieved during the session.

  1. What to be aware of

On rare occasions the internet connection may drop while we are in the middle of the session. There is nothing to worry about because you will naturally and easily come out of hypnosis by yourself and reconnect to the same meeting. In case I need to contact you, I always advise that you have your phone next to you so you can hear its sound.

  1. Benefits of doing the session online

There is no question that there are benefits of carrying out sessions online. These include the following:

  • You can stay at home, in your own familiar and comfortable environment
  • There is no time or energy required to travel to see me, no matter how far you live away from my venue
  • The content of the session is the same as if you were to see me face to face
  • You can even stay in your comfortable clothes without having to get changed or put make-up on
  • You are free to carry on with the rest of the day as soon as the session has ended

I do hope that this article has provided some reassurance that there really is a magnitude of ways that online sessions are an excellent alternative to face-to-face appointments. And even if you prefer to see me face to face to start with, you have the flexibility to switch to online ones too.
